Quitting smoking is won in the small moments.
A craving building at 7 pm. A coffee that calls for a cigarette. Ash holds the three minutes that matter with you, then turns every smoke-free hour into progress you can see.

When the craving hits
Three minutes to get through, not willpower to find.
A craving rises, peaks, then fades — in three to five minutes, whether you smoke or not. Ash does not ask you to resist: it keeps you busy while the wave passes.
- Guided breathing that brings the pressure down, with a visible countdown.
- Mini-games for when breathing is not enough: memory, Flappy, 2048.
- An SOS widget on your home screen: help is one tap away, not three screens.
- A concrete alternative to pick next: walk, drink water, call someone.
Understand your habits
Your cravings keep a schedule. Ash shows it to you.
Every craving logged, every cigarette recorded, every daily mood eventually draws a map: the hours, the emotions and the situations that keep coming back. You can only fight what you have seen.
- The daily journal: mood, energy, trigger, in three taps.
- Trigger analysis: “your cravings cluster around 7 pm on weekdays”.
- Trends over the week, the month, or since day one.
- The “I smoked” button, without judgement: a data point, never a failure.
See what you gain
Smoke-free time, in money and in breath.
Quitting is long and abstract. Ash makes progress concrete: cigarettes avoided, money still in your account, life time regained, and the state of your lungs day after day.
- The counter of smoke-free time and cigarettes avoided.
- Savings, worked out from the price of your pack.
- The recovery timeline: the indicative stages your body goes through.
- The weekly recap, missions, XP and badges.
What happens when you quit
Recovery starts twenty minutes after the last cigarette.
These milestones are the ones commonly recognised by public health authorities. Ash carries them into its recovery timeline and lines them up with your own quit date.

- 8 hoursCarbon monoxide in the blood is halved; oxygen levels return to normal.
- 24 hoursThe body has cleared the nicotine. Heart attack risk starts to fall.
- 48 hoursNerve endings regrow: taste and smell come back.
- 72 hoursThe bronchial tubes relax, breathing gets easier.
- 2 weeks to 3 monthsCirculation improves and lung capacity rises markedly.
- 1 to 9 monthsCoughing and breathlessness ease; the cilia regrow and clean the lungs.
- 1 yearCoronary heart disease risk is half that of a smoker.
- 5 yearsStroke risk approaches that of a non-smoker.
- 10 yearsLung cancer death risk is roughly half that of a smoker.
- 15 yearsCardiovascular risk matches that of someone who never smoked.
Ash is a support tool, not a treatment
These milestones are indicative and vary from person to person. Ash makes no diagnosis and is no substitute for professional medical advice. In France, Tabac info service offers free support from smoking-cessation specialists on 39 89.

Frequently asked
What people ask us most.
Is Ash free?
The download and most of the app are free: counter, journal, statistics, missions, and Craving SOS with guided breathing and the memory game. Ash Premium unlocks the photo journal beyond the first three photos and two extra mini-games during the SOS.
How long does a cigarette craving last?
A craving rises, peaks and fades in roughly three to five minutes, whether you smoke or not. That is the whole idea behind Craving SOS: fill those three minutes with guided breathing or a mini-game while the wave passes on its own.
Do I need to create an account?
No. Ash creates an anonymous account automatically on first launch: no email, no password, no sign-up. It exists only to save your data and sync it with the widget.
Does Ash work if I want to cut down rather than quit?
Yes. During setup you choose whether you are quitting now or cutting down gradually. In cut-down mode, Ash tracks a daily cigarette limit instead of a quit date, and every tool stays available.
What happens if I relapse?
Nothing special, and that is deliberate. The “I smoked” button logs the cigarette without judgement: it joins your statistics as a data point, not a failure. There is no alarm red anywhere in the app — a relapse is part of most quit journeys.
Is my health data private?
Ash asks for no email and no name: your data is tied to an anonymous identifier and is never sold. Photo journal pictures stay on your phone. The details are in the privacy policy.
Is Ash available on Android?
Not yet. Ash is currently available on iPhone, from iOS 16.4. An Android version is in the works.
How do I cancel an Ash Premium subscription?
Subscriptions are managed entirely from the App Store: iOS Settings → your name → Subscriptions → Ash. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current period. Ash has no way of cancelling a subscription for you.
